My name is Mel Murakawa-White and I'm an artist with a degree in Experimental Animation and Creative Writing from the University of Central Florida. During my time at UCF, I worked as an Event Coordinator for our chapter of Women in Animation and interned for the Pabst Steinmetz Positive Parenting Animations as a visual artist and character designer. These animations went on to achieve finalist positions at both VAiFF and the Southern Shorts Awards. I also completed my senior thesis, Cockroach Girl, which was displayed in the Emergence gallery, and developed Candle & Calamari for the Directed Study Showcase.
I have been Head Artist at Cox Farms since 2021 and reside in a sunny spot in Northern Virginia with my lizard, Stretch.
My work is inspired by unique color combinations, strong shapes, tangibility, and an honest sense of movement.
I'm available for work. Drop me a line!
